Good for the Soul

"I Galileo, in the seventieth year of my age, on my knees before your Eminences, having before my eyes, and touching with my own hands, the Holy Scriptures, abjure, curse, and detest the error of the Earth's movement."

Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Schindler Recap

Main points per Danny's request:

1. Terri Schiavo was a living human soul who was unjustly and barbarically put to death by the state on the basis of a standard of evidence lower than that enjoyed by mass murderers and by a means that would be criminal if used upon an animal.

2. The tolerance of abortion in this country has facilitated a more pervasive culture of death which has already led to legally sanctioned euthanasia and which, if unchecked, will produce even more horrific results.

3. The inclusion of food and water in the definition of "extraordinary care" and the absolutely arbitrary and non-medical diagnosis of "persistent vegetative state" are annually allowing thousands of cognitively disabled people in this country to be starved and dehydrated to death.

4. Somebody has to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

It was a very moving presentation.
