Minnesota Roots

This past week, the kids had the opportunity to experience some of their Minnesota heritage. Here are some pictures from the Duluth leg of the trip.

In front of the barn where their great-great-grandfather kept cows

At the coney-joint where their great-grandfather ate as a kid

On the Lake Superior shore, up at Two Harbors

Brad,

Your kids are BEAUTIFUL. Please tell Cinnamon, Paul, and her parents that the whole Johnson family sends their hellos and well wishes. We carpool with them for years! Anyway... Just wanted to say hi. Glad to see the blessings in your life.

Jeanne! What an incredibly pleasant surprise. Everyone returns your hellos. What are you up to these days?

I'm a PhD candidate at the Unv of South Carolina in the Business School. I'm in my last semester of course work, then have 2.5 yrs to work on my dissertation. So 2010 is my year of jubilee! I married a wonderful, Christian man (Chris), and we're living in Ft. Mill, SC (which is very close to Charlotte, NC). God has been extremely good to me and my family (both in Dayton and my extended family).

When I ran into your blog, I couldn't get the smile off my face. Wow... I haven't seen Jeanie and Tom Downs in FOREVER! Did I hear correctly that Paul went into the military to be a chaplin? Cinnamon looks exactly the same and WOW... you have KIDS. I'm not trying to be a grown up quite yet. I did it for a few years... didn't like it much... so I've decided to be an "mature" kid for the rest of my life. ; )

Anyway... I may want to contact Cinnamon in the near future. Chris and I eloped in July but are planning to have a wedding reception in Dayton around November. We haven't solidified all of the plans yet, but I may want to see if Cinnamon is available for her musical services that weekend. My mom remembers how beautifully she played.

I'm so glad to see/read that your family is doing well. I often don't hear about DCS alums unless something tragic or terrible has happened. Good to know that there some of us who aren't atheists, accused murders/theives/felons, or otherwise "immoral". Good news never travels fast enough, but I'm glad to know it's out there.

Take care and God bless!
